Jakub Dobes Shows Humility Toward Marc-André Fleury Live on TV with a Bold Gesture
Thursday night, Marc-André Fleury recorded a shutout in what seemed to be his final game at the Bell Centre.
The end of the game was quite emotional for the Quebecer as the crowd gave him a standing ovation.
This was not forgetting the players and coaches of the Montreal Canadiens, who didn't hesitate to salute his career with a handshake.
In his 7th game in the NHL, Jakub Dobes was tasked with facing the man who had over 1043 games in the league.
Despite the loss and allowing three goals, the rookie didn't hesitate to show his respect for the Quebec goaltender.
It was Dobes himself who took the initiative to take the game puck and hand it over to the honoree of the evening.
The reason for this gesture was simply because he would have wanted someone to do the same for him if the roles had been reversed.
Jakub Dobes' humility: he refuses to say what Marc-André Fleury told him because he doesn't want to steal the spotlight
The young Canadiens goaltender had a lot to say after the game, especially regarding his opponent in the net. From his words, it's clear that Dobes has immense respect for the Wild veteran.
«Fleury has been playing in the NHL for over 20 years, I told him at the end of the game that it was an honor for me to share the ice with him for this game,» Dobes said.
«He deserved this great evening.
The loss sucks, but sometimes it's nice to see a player from the other team have a great moment.
As for the puck, I thought it was the right thing to do to give it to him right away. I didn't want to be mean!»

When asked what Flower had replied to him, Dobes didn't want to make a fuss and refused to share it.
Thus, we see all the restraint and humility he has just with this small gesture.
