Insider Elliotte Friedman from Sportsnet revealed some very interesting information in the last few minutes on Hockey Night in Canada.
He announced that Kent Hughes, along with other Montreal Canadiens executives, has indeed decided to fly to Russia to personally handle the Ivan Demidov situation.
We love it! This speaks volumes about how much importance the Canadiens' management places on the young Demidov.
Kent Hughes and Montreal Canadiens Executives Will Visit Ivan Demidov
See his exact statement.
Elliotte Friedman on the Habs brass planning to visit Ivan Demidov in Russia soon:
«The moment the Canadiens drafted him, they made plans that at some point in time they would eventually go in the season to watch him, visit him, check and see how he's doing. They are scheduling that trip now. It's gonna take place sometime over the next few weeks to months. They are going to go over to see (Ivan Demidov) play, perform, practice and get a first hand look at how he is..the MTL Canadiens and their GM Kent Hughes will go over to see him.»

Wow!
Let's not forget that Ivan Demidov, 18 years old, has accumulated an impressive 10 points in 17 games this season in the KHL with SKA St. Petersburg, despite very limited ice time.
In the majority of those 17 games, Demidov has played less than 5 minutes and hasn't had a single second on the power play.
That makes these statistics all the more impressive.
It should also be noted that in recent days, the excellent journalist from TVA Sports, Nicolas Cloutier, reported this.
«Was Ivan Demidov benched because he refused, three times, a contract extension from SKA St. Petersburg last month? This is at least what a source close to the Montreal Canadiens prospect's entourage is reporting behind the scenes.» - TVA Sports
The Canadiens will therefore have several matters to address, but one thing is certain: Demidov seems absolutely determined to cross the ocean as soon as next season to play for Montreal starting in the 2025-2026 season.
We highly recommend his full report, right here:
