The rumor had been circulating for several months that the very dynamic and very promising young defenseman Lane Hutson would join the Montreal Canadiens, possibly as early as this season, but it has just been confirmed.
Kent Hughes has just confirmed it with a statement that doesn't leave much room for interpretation. Hutson will sign with the Canadiens:"Kent Hughes is looking forward to seeing Lane Hutson in Montreal!" - Via TVA Sports
He will eventually come to an agreement with the Habs, and it's extremely reassuring.
We won't experience a situation like Adam Fox.
It's not just the fans of the Canadiens who are eager to see Lane Hutson don the jersey of their favorite team one day. Kent Hughes also said he is "excited to see how he will adapt to the pros".

"It's no secret we're happy with his progress," Kent Hughes, who could hardly hide his excitement at seeing Lane Hutson put on the CH uniform.

Hutson, who is currently playing with Boston University and has incredible chemistry with a certain Macklin Celebrini (future first overall pick), has a historic production for a young NCAA defenseman.
He has outperformed players like Quinn Hughes and Cale Makar. Let's temper expectations, but the statistics are the statistics.
Hutson, 20, has accumulated 44 points in 33 games this season, after having amassed 48 points in 39 games the previous season in the NCAA. (27 goals in total)
It's very solid, and the Canadiens seem to have made a steal with the 62nd overall pick in 2022.
Quinn Hughes had collected 33 points in 32 games and 29 points in 37 games, while Cale Makar had for his part amassed 49 points in 41 games as well as 21 points in 34 games. (all in the NCAA)
We will closely monitor the results of Boston University in the coming weeks.
