This summer, he has yet to make a big splash on the NHL trade market, but he did announce a major signing for the future of the organization.
Last month, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens Hockey Club extended Juraj Slafkovsky's contract for eight seasons (2025-2026 to 2032-2033) worth $60.8 million.
We're talking about a deal that will earn him an average annual salary of $7.6 million.
In an interview with the NHL's official website, Kent Hughes indeed mentioned that he believes this investment will pay off in the medium and long term.
He fully expects Slafkovsky's contract to become a bargain, especially with the salary cap increase.
If Slafkovsky continues to develop at the same pace, it will indeed be a very good contract for the Canadiens, and quite soon.
More details to follow.
