Kent Hughes Spotted with a Special Guest at the Bell Centre This Afternoon
As reported by numerous sources, including TVA Sports, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, was seen with a special guest at the Bell Center.
During the Canadiens' most recent practice, Kent Hughes was indeed seen in the stands, accompanied by none other than Kimmo Kapanen, the father of Oliver Kapanen.
But most importantly, Kimmo Kapanen is also the general manager of the Timra IK team in Sweden, the same team "waiting" for Oliver Kapanen to return to Europe.
Will he return one day? That is the question, but it certainly got people talking to see them together.
Kent Hughes spotted with Oliver Kapanen's father and the general manager of Timra IK in Sweden
It's quite special to see that Mr. Kapanen crossed the Atlantic Ocean to come see his son, while his own team in Sweden was also playing.
We love it! It's really heartwarming to see.
Regarding Kimmo Kapanen's visit, a TVA Sports informant mentioned this:
«It's important to talk about him because Kimmo, that's his name, let's not forget that he's the GM of the Timra team in the Swedish league, where if Oliver [Kapanen] is sent back to Europe, that's where he would end up.»
- Renaud Lavoie
Let's remember that, until December 7 inclusive, the Montreal Canadiens are required to keep Oliver Kapanen with the main club, otherwise, he will have to be sent back to Europe.
After this date, he will be eligible to play with the Laval Rocket. One thing is certain, the communication between Timra and Montreal seems to be excellent.
«I think it was a relatively important discussion. [...] If in two or three weeks there's a drop in his game, we already have a relationship established with the father who is in town.» - Renaud Lavoie
This will be a situation to watch closely, but if he continues playing at this level, I don't think Kapanen's father will see him in Sweden anytime soon.
A very interesting article.
