Before the trade announced with the Columbus Blue Jackets, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, consulted Nick Suzuki.
It's rare to see that coming from a general manager towards his captain, but we love it.
It was Nick Suzuki himself who confirmed this information and, of course, confirmed that the team is absolutely behind this significant acquisition.
For those who still doubted that Kent Hughes did his homework before finalizing such a deal, here is another very clear proof.
See Nick Suzuki's exact words, as reported by the excellent journalist Jonathan Bernier.
«I told him it would be a huge acquisition to add a guy who can score goals, as long as he comes with a very good attitude,» said Suzuki. «I also spoke to Laine. He seems to be ready and very excited. So, I don't see any problem.»

Asked about the strange way Patrik Laine's time ended in Columbus and Winnipeg, the captain of the Montreal Canadiens mentioned this.
«It doesn't worry me too much. Our group is one where anyone can fit in easily. We're all guys who love coming to the arena every day and who have a lot of fun together. The transition will be easy for him.»

Additionally, with a head coach like Martin St-Louis, that obviously makes the transition easier.
Personally, we have no doubt that Patrik Laine will fit in very well in the Canadiens' locker room, and after speaking to some sources who know Patrik Laine well as an individual, it seems clear that we're dealing with a young man who truly wants to be a good teammate.
As we said yesterday, it's not necessarily him that's the problem, quite the opposite.
We are very happy to have Patrik Laine in Montreal.
