We just witnessed a frightening scene live from the Laval Rocket game.

Young forward Filip Engaras crashed hard into the boards late in the game between the Laval Rocket and the Utica Comets.

This is a sad example of a sequence where there was no dangerous or reckless play, but where Engaras was simply very unlucky and had a bad fall.

He left on a stretcher, and his condition was so concerning that goaltender Jakub Dobes, a Montreal Canadiens prospect, felt the need to intervene quickly.

His team released a statement:

Fillip Engaras took a hard fall into the corner and was taken off the ice by paramedics. Our thoughts are with him, and we will update with any information as it becomes available.

The game has resumed

We want to commend the quick actions of the on-site medical staff, and we send positive thoughts to Filip Engaras and his family.

Engaras, 25 years old, is a Swedish forward standing 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 200 pounds. He was a sixth-round pick by the Edmonton Oilers in 2020 and was playing his fifth game of the season for Utica, the New Jersey Devils' AHL affiliate, that night. Our thoughts are with him tonight; it was truly a difficult scene to watch.
