The Montreal Canadiens announced earlier today that defenseman Kaiden Guhle will miss a significant portion of the 2024 training camp.

Guhle had his appendix removed yesterday, and the Canadiens have made an announcement about what's next for him:

That said, a new player has been added to the training camp roster to replace the 22-year-old defenseman, who will be re-evaluated in a week.

Jacob Paquette has been invited by the Habs, along with others, specifically to replace Kaiden Guhle.

This explains the situation.

Jacob Paquette gets a golden opportunity to prove himself to the Montreal Canadiens' management

It could be a great story if he makes a strong impression in the coming days.

Who knows? He might even surprise and climb the ranks, starting with the Laval Rocket.

Jacob Paquette, 25 years old, is a 6-foot-3, 201-pound left-handed defenseman. He was a seventh-round pick by the Nashville Predators in the 2017 NHL Draft.

He played 19 games with the Trois-Rivières Lions last season (plus six playoff games).

We wish him the best of luck, as he will have the chance to live a great experience. Even though he got his invite due to Kaiden Guhle's absence, he's here and will have his chance like everyone else.
