We now have concrete proof of this, as a keen observer noticed that the NHL announced on its website the first Montreal Canadiens game to be broadcast on Amazon.
It looks like we're heading in that direction, even for the National Hockey League.
Are you happy with this change in direction? For now, it seems far from unanimous among fans.
So it will indeed be a Monday night game, live from the Bell Centre, between the Montreal Canadiens and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
It will be really special to watch Canadiens games on Amazon.
What does this mean for the future of NHL broadcasts on traditional television? What does it mean for the NHL's TV contract, which ends in 2026 with TVA Sports?
What does it mean for RDS, TVA Sports, TSN, Sportsnet and others?
Only time will tell, but we truly hope it won't have too much of an impact on our TV networks.
I believe both can coexist.
