Former Montreal Canadiens defenseman suddenly passes away at the age of 61

We have just learned that a former defenseman from the Montreal Canadiens organization has passed away.

As announced by the NHL Alumni Association, Larry Trader, a former player for the Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, and St. Louis Blues, has passed away at the age of 61.

That's still such a young age.

"The NHL Alumni Association is saddened to hear of the passing of Larry Trader at the age of 61.

Larry was selected in the 5th round of the 1981 Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. He played two seasons with the team before moving to the St. Louis Blues and ending his NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens.

In total, Larry played 91 regular-season games, scoring 18 points."

He is thus part of the great family of former Montreal Canadiens players and NHL alumni.

We offer our deepest condolences to Larry Trader's family and loved ones.

Trader also played for the Sherbrooke Canadiens and the Canadian national team.

During his time with the Habs, he played alongside players such as
Bobby Smith, Mats Naslund, Stéphane Richer, Claude Lemieux, Larry Robinson, Guy Carbonneau, Bob Gainey, Sergio Momesso, Chris Nilan, Patrick Roy, and Chris Chelios.
