There was a wave of concern this morning as the Montreal Canadiens announced that Patrik Laine is absent today.

He is the first player at camp to require a treatment day, and an injury would be such a shame.

However, the excellent Anthony Marcotte has just provided an explanation regarding the possible real reason for Laine's absence today, and it makes perfect sense.

Anthony Marcotte offers reassuring comments about Patrik Laine

According to him, it may simply be a matter of managing repetitions.

«Patrik Laine barely skated during the offseason. He stayed in shape, but on-ice training, he's not the one who did the most.»

When you haven't skated for a long time, it's easy to have some muscle soreness, so it's important to properly manage those discomforts if you don't want them to turn into something more serious and concerning.

Let us recall that in the past few hours, the Montreal Canadiens officially announced that forward Patrik Laine would not participate in on-ice sessions today, as he requires a treatment day on this third day of camp.

We highly recommend Anthony Marcotte's full article Joshua Roy's place in Montreal is not guaranteed.

At 26 years old, Patrik Laine collected 9 points in 18 games last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, and he has 388 points (204 goals) in 480 career games in the National Hockey League.

If he can play 82 games and stay healthy, it will be huge for Martin St-Louis' squad and the Canadiens' chances of possibly making the 2025 playoffs.
