Renowned journalist reveals who he believes will be the next Canadiens player traded to make room
As Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton prepare for the new season of the Canadiens, Justin Barron's name continues to circulate in trade rumors.
Among the topics most frequently discussed by various media outlets is the situation of the young defensemen who will compete for a spot during training camp. As reported by the site HabsolumentFan, a veteran journalist has identified a defenseman who may very well be on his way out of Montreal.
Is Justin Barron surplus in Montreal?
During a recent appearance on BPM Sports radio, Mathias Brunet, journalist at La Presse and host of the Processus podcast, mentioned that Justin Barron might be on the verge of being traded by Kent Hughes.
Here are his comments:
«I think we might try to trade Barron. It will depend, but I believe Barron still has some value. I don't think they will let him go for a second-round pick because there are always injuries, and you want depth, and there isn't much depth or experience on the right side.
I think the Canadiens believe that someone might bite for a late first-round pick. Last year, we thought we could get a late first-round pick for Barron.
Look at what Dallas paid for Nils Lundkvist, a late first-round pick, while Lundkvist was behind Barron.» This means that after Jordan Harris and Johnathan Kovacevic, who were traded during the offseason, Barron could very well be the next to leave the organization to make room for Lane Hutson, Logan Mailloux, and David Reinbacher.
