After another masterful performance from Cole Caufield, who scored two goals (including an absolutely precise shot into the top corner), number 13 was named the first star of the game.
What followed was a charming little interview with journalist Renaud Lavoie, at center ice in the Bell Centre and broadcast live on TVA Sports. However, at the end of the interview, Caufield was the target of a lighthearted prank.
After finishing answering Renaud Lavoie's questions, Caufield waited a few moments to be given a marker so he could sign the camera lens.
The small issue is that signing the camera is a tradition of RDS, not TVA Sports.
We can chalk this up as a "blooper."
I bring this up because I just learned something interesting.
I had never noticed that it's only RDS that has this little ritual, and not TVA Sports.
Speaking of our two Quebec sports networks, they'll need to get along and be united, as Prime Video broadcast its very first Montreal Canadiens game last night.
And from what Gary Bettman had to say about it yesterday, it really feels like this could impact the NHL's next broadcast deal for Montreal Canadiens games.
