In the past few seconds, the Flyers announced that they have placed defenseman Tony DeAngelo on unconditional NHL waivers.
This is quite a turnaround. If he is not claimed, DeAngelo will therefore become a free agent and he will be as free as the wind.
Unsurprisingly, numerous rumors are sending him to the Carolina Hurricanes.
If you were an NHL GM, would you claim him?
DeAngelo, 27, was a 19th overall pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2014. He collected 42 points with the Flyers last season, and he has produced at a rate of 65 points per season twice in his last three campaigns.
He has been one of the NHL's most productive defenders, but he comes with his share of red flags as well.
He earns 5 million per season until 2024.
More details to follow.
