As you may know, the Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman has always dreamed of wearing the colors of his childhood team, and he was once represented by none other than Kent Hughes as his agent.
That being said, it's understandable that the veteran would want to join a team with a promising future, which isn't really the case in Pittsburgh, where there are serious questions about what Kyle Dubas's plan actually is.
As reported by the DLC site, it seems that the former Maple Leafs GM would be willing, if he had his way, to trade Letang, as well as Evgeni Malkin, according to The Athletic journalist Josh Yohe.
Interesting comments from the journalist, and he even added that the presence of Sidney Crosby would likely force the organization to keep Malkin and Letang in some capacity.
Let's just say that the arrival of Kyle Dubas at the helm of the team hasn't had the expected impact on the ice, as the Penguins missed the playoffs for the second consecutive season, despite acquiring Erik Karlsson.
Fans have reason to be concerned about the future, as the organization's prospect pool isn't very strong, and it's possible that before long, we could see the Penguins returning to their pre-Sidney Crosby days of 20 years ago, or even to their pre-Mario Lemieux days of 40 years ago.
