Remember that in the last few minutes, we learned that the Montreal Canadiens have claimed a forward via waivers.

Following that, we had a surprise, as the one who was drafted to become Seattle's number one goalie, Chris Driedger, was just placed on waivers by the Kraken.

There's a lot going on in the NHL waivers today!

In addition to Tierney being claimed by the CH, here is an excellent goalie who is now effectively free as a bird.

Driedger, 28, is a 6-foot-4 goalie.

He has been injured since the beginning of the season and has been anxiously waiting to get healthy so he can resume his position in front of the Kraken net.

But while Driedger was healing from his injury, Martin Jones did well and finally stole his job.

Driedger had a very solid career in the National Hockey League:

- 2.05 GAA and .938 SV% in 2020 with the Panthers

- 2.07 GAA and .927 SV% in 2021 with the Panthers

- Average of 2.96 and 0.900 efficiency rating in 2022 with the Kraken.

Solid statistics!

He was selected in the expansion draft by Seattle in July 2021, and indeed, at that time, he was to be the Kraken's number one goalie.

Driedger is signed at $3.5 million per season through 2024.

He's a solid goalie and should definitely be claimed. (0.917 career NHL efficiency)

Maybe he will be claimed by the Florida Panthers, who just sent Spencer Knight to the AHL?

We will have the answer tomorrow.
