A Tweet from the Twitter account @LeafSingh showed an image of Jonathan Drouin, Carey Price, Logan Mailloux, and Alex Galchenyuk, with the caption "Let's play. Name that band!".
While Mailloux had separate off-ice issues not related to addiction, and Drouin's problems stemmed from depression and insomnia, Carey Price and Alex Galchenyuk have both historically struggled with addiction at different points throughout their careers.
Price entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program a few years ago after revealing that he had been struggling with alcohol abuse in the time following Montreal's Stanley Cup run. Galchenyuk on the other hand had long been rumored to have been dealing with drugs addiction, but the rumors of his struggles were confirmed recently following his arrest in Scottsdale and his press release that followed.
This wasn't a one-off comment either, as multiple Leafs fans joined in on the disgusting taunting.
The list goes on and on, but you get the point. This classless and disgusting mocking of players who have overcome serious struggles is flat-out wrong.
It takes a lot of courage to ask for help, and we applaud anyone who takes the steps necessary to get better.
