Auston Matthews dealing with concussion according to new rumour
It looks like the Toronto Maple Leafs' star forward Auston Matthews could be dealing with a concussion, according to a new rumor by a longtime Leafs analyst.
The Leafs are set to face elimination tonight, in Boston, for game 5 in the series against the Bruins. As of now, Auston Matthews' status remains uncertain, but a new rumor from Howard Berger states that he could be dealing with a concussion.
Matthews was pulled out of game 4 by the doctors, for his "lingering illness", and Keefe explained that it gets worse when he's on the ice, which fit the concussion symptoms.
Of course, there are many scenarios that could explain why Matthews is sidelined, but concussion is one of them.
That's what Berger believes. He added that the secrecy surrounding players' health in the playoffs certainly doesn't help the speculation:
Of course, the NHL has strict concussion protocol and the Leafs would be obligated to keep Matthews out of the line�up if he's experiencing any effects of post�concussion syndrome. I'm sort of debunking my own argument, but no one tells the truth in the playoffs. So we are left to speculate. And, I'm comfortable with the head�shot hypothesis."
With the way things are in the playoffs, we likely wont know the whole truth before the Leafs' playoff run ends.
It could be anytime now.
