The Leafs have always had ridiculously overpriced tickets, leaving many fans who can't afford to go feeling left out.
While we already knew this, a new study has just revealed just how bad this price gouging has gotten.
Leafs Raising Prices
A new study has just come out from David Alter of The Hockey News, which reveals how each team's ticket prices have changed since the 2012 season.
The results from some teams were surprising to be sure, but none more so than the Maple Leafs.
According to a study conducted by USBettingReport, the Leafs ranked at the top of the list using a calculation in which they call a 'Fan Cost Index'. The metric calculates the total cost of taking a family of four to a sporting event. It considers the prices of four average-price tickets, two small draft beers, four small soft drinks, four regular-size hot dogs, parking for one hour, two game programs, and the two least-expensive, adult-size adjustable caps.
Overall, the Leafs have raised the cost to attend a game on average by around 11%, which is quite a ridiculous rise.
While inflation is a factor, there's no reason to take advantage of your loyal fans like this.
Leafs Fas React
Leafs fans were understandably upset when they found out about this rise and didn't shy away from letting it be known on social media.
We understand that this will only likely continue, but we do feel bad for the fans who have suffered due to Toronto's greediness.
