An alarming publication has just been released for Montreal Canadiens fans, and it is generating a significant reaction
Even though he hasn't been with the Montreal Canadiens for a long time, co-director of amateur scouting Nick Bobrov has sparked a lot of reaction.
He has been behind some bold decisions regarding the Canadiens' first-round picks, particularly with the selections of Juraj Slafkovsky, David Reinbacher, and Filip Mesar.
Only time will tell if he made the right choices, as it is still too early to determine, but it's fair to say that these selections haven't necessarily been unanimous.
"After Juraj Slafkovsky last year, passing on Shane Wright or Logan Cooley, the team opted for David Reinbacher instead of Matvei Michkov or even Ryan Leonard. We could also add the 26th pick in 2022 to the picture with Filip Mesar, who wasn't even projected to be a first-round pick by the majority of experts." - Nicolas Desrosiers Now that Bobrov has completed his second draft with the Canadiens, we simply have to trust him.
However, should we trust him?
An alarming publication has surfaced regarding Bobrov's recent years as the director of amateur scouting with the New York Rangers.
As you can see below, during his six-year tenure as the chief scout, the European selections have been very disappointing.
None of the players drafted by Bobrov from 2015 to 2021 in the first three rounds have made an impact in the league, except perhaps Filip Chytil, who scored 45 points last season.
And yes, as you may have guessed, the Canadiens have exclusively drafted Europeans with their first-round picks since Bobrov's arrival.
Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and wait to see, but it's fair to say that his track record doesn't work in his favor.
