The subject was discussed this morning on BPM Sports, during Jean-Charles Lajoie's show, and he made a huge revelation that speaks volumes about the players available in the upcoming draft.
As JiC was talking about the Habs' upcoming pick, which now has a much lower chance of being a top-5 pick (due to yesterday's win and the Coyotes' loss), Lajoie said this.
We must not forget that, in any case, by having a top-10 pick, the Montreal Canadiens have an excellent chance of getting their hands on an exceptional player. (precisely because of the very talented class)
And to support his point, JiC revealed that a very well-informed source told him that Juraj Slafkovsky would most likely not be a "top-10" pick if he were available for selection in 2023.
Even worse:
Wow! Clearly, this anonymous source is not a big fan of Slafkovsky, but more importantly, it says a lot about the immense quality of the players available in the first round of 2023.
According to this source, Slafkovsky would probably not even be worth a first-round 2023 pick on the trade market.
In any case, we would never make that trade.
The goal here is really to prove how much talent is available in the upcoming draft.
Imagine if Kent Hughes manages to get three first-round picks next June! That would be huge.
