The forward for the Regina Pats fulfilled all expectations placed on him this season, including breaking numerous records at the World Junior Championship and in the WHL.
However, the main person of interest does not believe that the first overall pick is destined for him.
Indeed, Bedard stated in a recent interview that all he wanted was to be drafted, asserting at the same time that he still had a lot to prove.
Wow, what a great attitude! It's a surprising statement, but we love it!
If that isn't humility, I don't know what is. In any case, it's a major statement that says a lot about his character.
However, the statistics don't lie. With 143 points (71 goals) in just 57 regular season games with the Pats, in addition to his 23 points in seven games with the Canadian team during the holiday season, Connor Bedard is in a class of his own.
Bedard has also already accumulated six goals and 11 points after three games in his first WHL playoff appearance. His team is currently leading the series 2-1 against the powerful Saskatoon Blades.
Unlike last year, there is strong consensus around the first overall pick in the draft, which will take place on June 28th and 29th in Nashville.
And no matter what Connor Bedard thinks, he will be the first prospect to hear his name called at the draft.
