MAJOR: last minute announcement involving Alex Formenton and we finally have the details
After Dillon Dube (Calgary Flames) and Carter Hart (Philadelphia Flyers), another hockey player suddenly has to leave his team for personal reasons.
This time, it's the forward of HC Ambri-Piotta (in Switzerland) Alex Formenton who is leaving his team environment for an indefinite period.
"The website of HC Ambri-Piotta, the team for which Alex Formenton plays in Switzerland, states that the club has granted the Canadian an indefinite leave for personal reasons and has allowed Formenton to return to Canada." - Via Claire Hanna
Formenton will therefore return to Canada.
Formenton, 24 years old, is a 47th overall pick (2nd round) of the Ottawa Senators in 2017. He collected 32 points (18 goals) in 79 NHL games in 2022, but he did not sign with any NHL team afterwards.
He then headed to Switzerland, where he accumulated 30 points in 46 games with Ambri-Piotta.
Details will follow.
