Major suspension for Brendan Gallagher: the NHL has already made a big decision and it has just been announced that his meeting will be over the phone
As we reported earlier today, unsurprisingly, Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher will have a hearing today with the NHL's Department of Player Safety for the following action.
Many of you have asked us this question over the last few minutes, so here is the answer.
Yes, the NHL has already made a decision in this case.
It will be a suspension of less than 6 games for Brendan Gallagher
NHL journalists were calling for suspensions ranging from 6 to 10 games, but this will not be the case.
George Parros and his team have most likely taken into account the fact that Gallagher is not normally a dirty player.
«The NHL can suspend Gallagher for a maximum of five games for his hit last night, as it is a phone hearing and not in person.» - Via Frank Seravalli
«It's a phone hearing, not in person. Maximum 5 games. Gallagher is very lucky, I thought it would be in person.» - Via Elliotte Friedman, from Sportsnet
«Brendan Gallagher's hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety today for an illegal hit to the head of Adam Pelech is a phone hearing and therefore ensures that his suspension will not last more than five games.» - Via Chris Johnston, TSN Gallagher thus avoids the worst-case scenario, fortunately for him.
Let's just say it's causing a stir. And you, what do you think? How many games of suspension does Gallagher deserve for his action on Pelech?
Details to follow.
