Unfortunately, last night we witnessed one of the hardest scenes to watch this season, during the clash between the Calgary Flames and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The young forward of the Flames, AJ Greer, suffered a horrible ankle injury during the second period.

Watch a video, without slow motion (which was never shown on TV).

Trust us, you don't want to see the slow motion. It's hard to watch.

To give you an idea of the severity, it's rare that we see this, but the commentators quickly declared that his season is surely over and that his next season is in jeopardy.

Let's just say his ankle is in very bad shape.

Our thoughts are with AJ Greer this morning, who has probably already undergone surgery by the time we speak and must be feeling very low.

Let's hope his rehabilitation goes well.

For those who follow the NFL, it reminds us of what Alex Smith went through. (his career ended shortly after in his case)

Greer, a 27-year-old Quebecer, had accumulated 10 points in 45 games this season in Calgary, having played 153 games in his career in the big league.
