A former Canadiens forward causes a surprise and leaves for the KHL

A forward familiar to Montreal Canadiens fans from a few years ago, who was with the Vegas Golden Knights, has made an announcement.

Byron Froese, 33 years old, who played within the Canadiens organization from 2017 to 2019, has announced that he is leaving for the KHL.

A decision that surprised the Golden Knights.

Former Montreal Canadiens Player Byron Froese Signs in the KHL

He played 16 games in the NHL with Las Vegas last season.

Froese, a 6-foot, 195-pound center, was a fourth-round pick by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2009 (119th overall) and has played 141 career games in the National Hockey League.

In total, he has accumulated 7 goals and 20 points, along with 57 penalty minutes.

In 2023-24, Froese recorded 31 points in 53 games in the AHL, as well as 1 point in 16 games in the NHL.

Within the Montreal Canadiens organization, Froese amassed 41 points in 59 games with the Laval Rocket, as well as 11 points in 48 games with the main club.
