We are talking about 30 clubs since the Golden Knights are exempted from the expansion draft. That said, the Lightning have a few Quebecers unprotected, including Alex Killorn, who has no desire to join this new franchise.
Anyway, it was during an interview via the Spittin' Chiclets podcast that Killorn delivered this wave of emotion about HIS team, the Tampa Bay Lightning. The 31-year-old Halifax native was drafted by the Lightning in the third round in 2007, and so far he's picked up 343 points, including 146 goals, in 641 games.
Killorn has become an important cog in the Lightning's wheel since entering the 2012-13 season, finding a way to take his game up a notch in crunch time. This year, prior to bowing out against the Habs following Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final, he had 17 points in 19 games.
All in all, Killorn can certainly breathe easier as the Seattle Kraken's pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning seems to be, not surprisingly, Yanni Gourde. Earlier this week, I pointed out that Gourde would be my choice for the Lightning, if I were in Ron Francis' polished shoes.
