In a press conference a few days ago, Jeff Gorton mentioned that Jesse Ylonen's contract would not be qualified by the Canadiens, but the management was not completely closing the door on bringing him back.
Ultimately, he will not be coming back.
Among the many signings announced in the past few hours, Ylonen's was one of them.
Ylonen, the Canadiens' 35th overall pick in 2018, ends his tenure in Montreal with 29 points in 111 games, including 12 goals.
He also added 32 points in 39 games with the Laval Rocket last season.
We wish Jesse Ylonen the best of luck in Tampa Bay!
Another member of the Montreal Canadiens organization has decided to continue his career there.
It's almost like a disguised trade, but honestly, we're really looking forward to seeing what Barré-Boulet can accomplish in Montreal.
He definitely seems to have better potential than Jesse Ylonen.
Returning to Tobie Paquette-Bisson, the 6-foot-3 defenseman, aged 27, has been playing with the Laval Rocket since 2020.
He collected 27 points in 69 games last season while playing significant minutes (an impressive +21 differential).
See the official announcement:
Best of luck to Tobie! He will certainly be greatly appreciated within the Lightning organization.
