Earlier this week, the Canadiens announced that they had reached an agreement with forward Jesse Ylonen on the terms of a one-year, two-way contract. Despite this new deal, Ylonen, whose father Juha had previously played in the NHL in the 1990s and 2000s, might be facing his last opportunity to make a mark within the organization.

Despite his promising numbers last year with the Habs - 16 points in 37 games - few people see him in the Canadiens' lineup to start the upcoming season. As reported by Alexandre Desrosiers from RDT, a change of scenery might be on the horizon for him.

Prominent statistician Stéphane Laberge, who is quite active on social media, proposed a trade involving a hometown prospect between the Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers.

To Edmonton: Jesse Ylonen

To Montreal: Raphaël Lavoie

Selected in the second round by the Oilers in 2019, Lavoie finds himself in a somewhat similar situation to the Canadiens' forward, struggling to establish himself in the NHL despite his undeniable offensive talent. In 61 games with the Oilers' AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, in the 2022-2023 season, he still managed to collect 45 points, including 25 goals.

However, the Oilers have very limited roster spots available for the upcoming season, and there's a possibility that Lavoie could eventually end up on the trade market.

I want to emphasize that this is a suggestion and not a substantiated rumor, so take this proposal with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, I'll ask the question to you.
