As you know, one of the biggest imminent challenges for Montreal Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes is to find a young future number one goaltender.
To fill this need, the name that has been circulating the most in recent months is undoubtedly that of the young sensation Devon Levi.
Many sources and informants have confirmed that Kent Hughes, Jeff Gorton, and the Montreal Canadiens are seriously interested in him.
Although he has signed an entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabres, rumors linking Levi to the Habs are not stopping, and the young goaltender has just made a significant statement on the subject.
That says a lot.
In order to get to know him better, during a Q&A session, the Sabres asked him, among other things, what music he likes to listen to before each game.
See his response:
«"If I had to choose a song, it would be 'Fix You' by Coldplay. I grew up in Montreal, so when I would go to games and hear that song while the players were jumping onto the ice, it gave me chills. I've always wanted to be one of the players (on the Montreal Canadiens) to take to the ice with that song. » - Devon Levi
He goes on to say that he makes no bones about it. Playing for the Montreal Canadiens has always been a dream of his, and he listens to the same song before every game to remind and motivate him.
Wow!
Let's just say that this won't help calm the rumors linking Levi to the Habs, but it's certain that the Sabres will do everything they can to keep him.
It's almost unprecedented, but he's already their trusted man and he has all the important starts in goal for Buffalo, while the Sabres fight hard for a playoff spot.
He's already their number one, even though at the beginning of the month he was still in university.
Levi, who is 21 years old and from Dollard-des-Ormeaux, has won 3 of his 4 starts, with a save percentage of 0.904.
