We knew that a goaltender from the Montreal Canadiens was apparently going to be placed on the NHL waivers, most likely Cayden Primeau, but Kent Hughes just took us by surprise by going even further.

In a press conference today, he stated this:

"It's certain that two goaltenders will go on waivers." - Kent Hughes

Interesting!

The situation of the Canadiens' goaltender continues to be widely discussed, and it was indeed a big topic of discussion today at the golf tournament.

Cayden Primeau, Casey DeSmith, Samuel Montembeault, and Jake Allen are all vying for a position in Montreal.

We believed that it was going in a clear direction (only Primeau on waivers), but it took an unexpected turn with this statement, as reported by DLC:

"If the Canadiens decide to go with two goaltenders, Casey DeSmith might, as has been anticipated for weeks, take the hit. Kent Hughes has already said that he will not send him to the minors...

But this morning, at Laval-sur-le-Lac, GM Kent Hughes said that two goaltenders would be going on waivers." - Charles-Alexis Brisebois

Two goaltender on waivers? Really?

We would be extremely surprised, but well, it will certainly be a matter to follow in the coming weeks and up until the start of the season.

Did Kent Hughes simply misspeak? This is likely to be clarified shortly, but it's probably the most surprising statement of the day.

Do you believe that DeSmith and Primeau will be placed on waivers?
