In the case of the possible trade of Jake Allen by the Montreal Canadiens, it seems to be dragging on and going nowhere, but know that there's a lot of discussion happening behind the scenes.
Yes, Kent Hughes is trying to end the three-way situation (especially with Cayden Primeau's impressive performance this season), yes he is negotiating trades with different clubs, but he won't be giving any gifts either.
He wants his price, and that's why he's patient.
If Hughes wanted to trade Jake Allen for a 6th round pick, it would already be done, but he wants much more, and for that, it takes time.
In short, as my colleagues from Marqueur report, in the last few hours, the renowned Pierre LeBrun has revealed a scoop in this case.
Teams like the Hurricanes, the Devils, and the Oilers have already contacted Kent Hughes to find out the price to acquire the Habs' number 34.
LeBrun also added this:
"Some teams have let the Canadiens know that they will come back on Jake Allen after the Holiday season to continue discussions regarding a potential trade. It will be interesting to see in the coming month if the Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils, and Edmonton Oilers contact Kent Hughes again. Moreover, I am convinced that they have all already called the Canadiens since the start of the season, and I have reason to believe that the GM of the Hurricanes recently spoke with Kent Hughes about a possible transaction."

There you have it! Things are moving!
"The situation with the Devils and Hurricanes is interesting because they are both fighting in the standings, both of them were supposed to be Stanley Cup contenders before the season started, but they have had problems with their goaltenders. I wonder if Montreal could drive up the bidding between the two teams."
- Pierre LeBrun
