Surprise: The Calgary Flames have placed a surprising forward on waivers
In the last few seconds, we have a player who has been sent to the NHL waivers.
This is notable, as there have been several claims over the past few days.
Will he be next?
This has just been confirmed by Chris Johnston and Elliotte Friedman.
The Flames have placed the name of the 30-year-old veteran center on waivers.
Effective on a third or fourth line, Rooney has not played a single game this season, as he was on the long-term injured list. He is now ready to play.
In his NHL career, he has played 227 games and has amassed 46 points. Last season, he split his time between the American League and the National League.
In 51 games with the Wranglers, he scored 17 points and in 17 games with the Flames, one assist.
