This information comes from the excellent journalist Marc Antoine Godin, and he certainly didn't mention these two names randomly.
We're talking about two experienced right-handed defensemen: Connor Carrick and Dylan McIlrath, who could join the Canadiens organization and the Laval Rocket as early as noon, when free agency begins.
Connor Carrick, who is 29 years old, has gained experience in 242 NHL games. During the last season, he played 63 games with the Providence Bruins and recorded 44 points. Solid numbers.
Dylan McIlrath, on the other hand, is 31 years old and has appeared in 72 NHL games. In the previous season, he made 13 assists in his 60 games with the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League. He was a 10th overall pick (1st round) in the 2010 NHL Draft.
They could add an interesting dimension to the Rocket and provide depth for the Canadiens. Especially for Carrick, he could definitely serve as a 6th or 7th defenseman for Martin St-Louis, if needed.
