We have new information regarding Jacob Trouba and the rumors involving the Montreal Canadiens that have been circulating.

You are probably already aware of this "saga," but let's recap: a few days ago, the New York Rangers decided that Jacob Trouba's time with them was over.

He was 100% available for a trade and was even about to be placed on NHL waivers, but he was ultimately traded to the Anaheim Ducks.

However, before the trade with the Ducks was announced, his name was heavily linked to Montreal.

It's confirmed: the Canadiens were interested in acquiring Jacob Trouba

It turns out that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton were genuinely interested in acquiring Trouba, at least according to newly surfaced information.

Jacob Trouba: "We're told the Canadiens were interested"

According to the highly reliable journalist Bruce Garrioch of Ottawa, the Montreal Canadiens were indeed involved in the discussions.

«It ultimately ended up being Anaheim, but we know the Rangers tried to send him to several teams. And clearly, there were several interested teams.

And according to Bruce Garrioch (Ottawa Citizen) one of those teams was the Canadiens.»

This is very interesting.

Let's recall that Jeff Gorton, Kent Hughes' right-hand man, was in charge of the New York Rangers when the team acquired Trouba in 2019.

However, according to various sources, Trouba did not want to play in Canada.

That explains the situation, and in the end, he was indeed traded to the Anaheim Ducks.

This once again proves that Montreal Canadiens' General Manager Kent Hughes is willing to make moves to improve his team.
