Last week, there was a big storm on the web when Matt Murley, a former NHL player, posted this.
"I'm told that Jake Allen [was traded] to the Avalanche.

A post that was even shared by big names including the official page of Spittin' Chiclets, which is the most popular hockey podcast in the world.
It seemed very serious, but it never materialized (at least for now).
A false trade announcement that had impacts on Jake Allen
During his recent press briefing, the veteran Habs goalie revealed to reporters that his phone was overwhelmed with calls and messages notifying him of his trade. (following this publication by Murley and Spittin' Chiclets)
"I have no control over that. These are rumors, and most people who speculate do it for the sake of speculating. Someone told me the other day that I was traded to Colorado, and my phone almost exploded with so many messages" -Jake Allen
Allen also mentioned that these rumors were affecting his parents.
"This is something that bothers my parents more..I know it's part of the game. It started in November or October, and it's going to get even more intense as the trade deadline (March 8) approaches." -Jake Allen
It must indeed not be easy for him and his family.
What prompted Matt Murley to make such a post? That's a good question and it seemed to be founded, but it had big impacts.
