For a reason we do not know, Cole Caufield's name keeps appearing in some trade rumors over the past few days for the Montreal Canadiens.

Some wanted to trade him for Utah's first-round pick, the sixth overall pick, and now his name has been hypothetically linked to the New York Rangers.

Clearly, the brilliant performance of Quebecois Alexis Lafrenière during the 2024 playoffs has inspired Montreal Canadiens fans, as 47.3% of respondents would already trade Caufield for "Laffy."

I wonder what Renaud Lavoie from TVA Sports thinks about it:

Cole Caufield, 23 years old, a 15th overall pick in 2019, scored 65 points, including 28 goals, in 82 games this season.

In addition to quadrupling his number of assists, he has significantly improved his defensive game and has really grown as a hockey player.

Alexis Lafrenière, 22 years old, a 1st overall pick in 2020, scored 57 points, including 28 goals, in 82 games this season. In the recent playoffs, he scored 14 points in 16 games.
