As you know, Kent Hughes has openly mentioned and reiterated that he would really try to acquire a top-6 forward this summer (or a potential future top-6 forward).
As August approaches, the Canadiens have yet to complete such a trade.
Indeed, journalists in the United States are not letting this go and continue to link Kaliyev's name to the Montreal Canadiens.
Normally, rumors come from here, but in Kaliyev's case, they come from there.
According to what has just been published via The Hockey News and journalist Lyle Richardson, Arthur Kaliyev's stay in Los Angeles could be over, as he is still a restricted free agent (RFA).
Richardson also believes that the 23-year-old forward could be an interesting option for the Canadiens:
This has just been published, and it's starting to become clear that multiple sources (south of the border) are linking Arthur Kaliyev to Montreal.
This will be a case to follow until October, but don't be surprised if Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton take their shot, especially if the asking price is low.
Kaliyev, a 33rd overall pick in 2019, is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound winger who was incredible in junior ranks (105 goals and 95 assists in his last two seasons with the Hamilton Bulldogs).
In the NHL, he has scored 35 goals and 36 assists (71 points) in 188 games with the Los Angeles Kings, but his potential seems much higher.
In a system like Martin St. Louis's, do you think he could blossom and become a steal?
According to various journalists in Los Angeles, the Kings would like to trade Kaliyev for a prospect with lower potential but a higher floor (a future good third- or fourth-line player).
Some have named Florian Xhekaj and Emil Heineman.
And you, would you trade Florian Xhekaj or Heineman for Kaliyev?
