We have action in the file of a potential trade involving Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans.

At least three teams have reportedly shown serious interest in the highly reliable Canadiens forward.

While many fans, as well as Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton, would likely prefer to move a name like Christian Dvorak, it's actually Evans who is attracting interest from other teams.

It's understandable.

Talk of a Trade Involving Forward Jake Evans

This situation resembles what happened with Artturi Lehkonen a few years back.

Will the outcome be the same for Evans? To be determined, but he is one of the few players off to an exceptional start this season.

His future in Montreal could depend on the Canadiens' performance in the coming weeks.

«If the Canadiens keep losing and Evans continues to play like this, maybe the team will judge that his best value lies elsewhere. I don't think the club is at that point, but we can still bring up the theory.»

According to reports from the excellent Marco D'Amico of RG, several teams (at least three) have serious interest in the Canadiens' center.

«A source mentioned Jake Evans' growing popularity within NHL pro scouting circles (and therefore, on the trade market).»

«Jake Evans is making waves! A source reveals that at least three NHL teams are closely monitoring the Montreal center, citing his strong start, penalty-killing expertise, and on-ice leadership.» - RG

This will be a closely watched file for Canadiens fans, especially since Evans will be a free agent this summer.

The 28-year-old forward has collected 5 points in 11 games this season, adding so much to Martin St-Louis' lineup.

According to Marco D'Amico's sources, unsurprisingly, Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton are in no rush to trade Evans.

More details to come.
