Trevor Zegras trade and the Canadiens: we are 100% sure that Arber Xhekaj's name is part of the conversation if they call
After his incredible performance last night, we thought the words "trade" and "Arber Xhekaj" wouldn't be uttered in the same sentence for a while, but no.
As part of his column today on BPM Sports, journalist Renaud Lavoie addressed the topic.
"If the Canadiens want to acquire a young forward, do you believe it has to involve the departure of Arber Xhekaj?

Essentially, the TVA Sports journalist explains that, if Kent Hughes wants to acquire a top-6 forward (and he has confirmed that's what he's aiming for), other NHL GMs will demand that Arber Xhekaj be part of the discussion.
He also spoke, in parallel, about the Trevor Zegras situation.
"What happens the day a team like the Anaheim Ducks calls Kent Hughes and says: we're ready to trade Trevor Zegras!
We are 100% sure that the name of Arber Xhekaj is part of the conversation."
- Renaud Lavoie
Lavoie talks about Zegras, but he says it will be the same for any other player of that type. Clearly, NHL teams are looking at Xhekaj and they want to try to get him out of Montreal.
"It's not the current group of leaders who signed him to the Canadiens, it was Marc Bergevin's group. So, they will try to get him out of Montreal. If the Canadiens want to acquire a promising young top-6 forward, the name of Arber Xhekaj will be mentioned." - Renaud Lavoie
