As the hockey world still struggles to come to terms with the tragic death of brothers Matthew Gaudreau and Johnny Gaudreau, new information has surfaced.

Many fans, concerned for his wife Meredith, wanted the NHL to financially compensate her and their children.

Will this happen? The answer is yes.

Here is the amount expected for Johnny Gaudreau's wife and children

According to the latest information, we have learned that Meredith Gaudreau will indeed receive money from the National Hockey League.

We would never want this to be necessary, but there is an insurance policy outlined in the NHL's collective bargaining agreement for this type of tragedy.

According to reports from Blade of Steel, Johnny Gaudreau's immediate family will receive compensation equivalent to one year's salary + one million dollars.

Considering Johnny Gaudreau's contract earned him $9.75 million per year, we're talking about a total of $10.75 million. (not including his potential personal life insurance)

There are also several other provisions, such as the following:

"Section 23.6 of the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement.

23.6 (c) In the event of a player's death, the player's spouse at the time of death shall have the right to elect to continue lifetime coverage, provided the player would otherwise have been eligible for such continuation under sections 23.6(a) or (b)."

In any case, the exact figures are not so important at this stage, but rest assured that at least Johnny Gaudreau's wife and children will receive financial support.
