We understand here that Suzuki is already acting like a captain and he understands that role and takes it (very) seriously. We don't want to impute any intentions or words to him, but it speaks volumes.
We have here a very promising youngster, already excellent, who lifts his troops on the ice, who has an A1 attitude, who is praised by almost all of his teammates as a future captain (including Cole Caufield who mentioned it very clearly) and on top of that, he is involved and dedicated to his community.
Just the fact that he stays here in Montreal most of the summer says a lot (even yesterday he was at the Rocket game). It's a change from some of the guys who would fly out of Montreal the night they were eliminated.
SUZUKI, THE LOGICAL CHOICE
He's not doing it for that, obviously, but once again, Nick Suzuki is making a big statement to be named captain of the Montreal Canadiens.
It could happen before the start of the 2022-23 season.
Let's remember the big scoop from yesterday:
Martin Leclerc mentions it here. Already at that time, the plan was to appoint a veteran as captain, while waiting to appoint Nick Suzuki.
Now, Suzuki seems to be ready and he takes his future role very seriously.
Do you still believe that the Montreal Canadiens should name a captain "while waiting" for Nick Suzuki, like Joel Edmundson?
Or do you think Suzuki is ready?
