Interesting revelation from Danault about his unpleasant encounter with Bergevin and he reveals the reason for his departure from Montreal

Former Canadiens player Phillip Danault was on 91.9 Sports this Wednesday for an interview during which he reflected on his first season with the Los Angeles Kings.
He had his best season in terms of goals with 27 and his team made the playoffs when many experts didn't even see the Kings going to spring ball. Danault's team was honorably eliminated in seven games against the Edmonton Oilers and the center was very solid during the series with three goals and two assists.
But as my colleague Keven Mawn of Fanadiens.com reports, hosts Louis-Philippe Guy and Gilbert Delorme also chatted with the former Habs player about why he left Montreal.
"Six years in Montreal, for sure, it's a long time. It's a lot of pressure, you're scrutinized. But for sure I love Montreal, I really do.
They made a business decision. They wanted to go with Suzuki and Kotkaniemi, you know, the younger guys, after they had the Stanley Cup experience. I don't know if they believed in me as much as I believed in myself. I think that's what cost me my departure."
But where the interview gets interesting is when Danault spoke about his first meeting with his former general manager, Marc Bergevin, when he was hired by the Kings organization and let's just say that he did not jump to the ceiling when he first saw him in California.
"For sure, I wasn't jumping for joy. But that's part of the business. We talked to each other, and it was okay. No hard feelings, really. There are decisions in hockey that can be difficult, especially in Montreal and especially for Quebecers. Not signing a Quebecer who was doing a decent job. There are double-edged knives in this, and I don't think we need to dig to find out whose fault it is. No hard feelings with Marc."
Let's just say there was a little discomfort between the two men. Danault clearly revealed here that he was not jumping for joy. We can not say that he is not transparent in any case. We love it!
Danault also laughed a little mockingly when he was asked if Bergevin had been less stubborn, would they both still be with the Habs?
"He didn't admit it to me, but these things happen, hen?"
