Big news just came out about Quebec and Canadian junior hockey. After being exiled for a few years to TVA Sports, QMJHL and CHL hockey will be back in French on RDS starting next year.
The new partnership will make it possible to present some 30 games on RDS, TSN and CBC. These networks will also present playoff games from the three junior hockey circuits, namely the QMJHL, WHL and OHL. In addition, they will showcase national events such as the Memorial Cup, the CHL-Russia Challenge and the Top Prospects Game.
This is great news for RDS, which had lost the rights to broadcast junior hockey to TVA Sports in 2014. The sports network has finally managed to bring back some of what it lost to TVA Sports. Will they succeed in bringing back NHL playoff hockey and CHL hockey on Saturday nights? That's probably what they will try to do in the next negotiations! A big change for the QMJHL and CHL next year.
