On June 15, 2017, the Montreal Canadiens acquired Quebec's Jonathan Drouin in a deal involving one of the organization's top prospects at the time, Mikhail Sergachev.
At the time, people were obviously happy with the acquisition of Drouin, but as the years went by, they began to miss Sergachev. Drouin is talented, but he tends to fall into cycles of lethargy. Also, his work ethic doesn't seem to be up to par.
On the other hand, Sergachev is a young rising star on defense for the Lightning. He plays in the shadow of Victor Hedman, which prevents him from fully developing offensively. However, under the circumstances, he is doing well.
Let's get back to Drouin. He may not be the star player that people expected, but one reporter made a point, as far as this trade goes, on the eve of the Tampa Bay vs Montréal game.
He reminded everyone that in hindsight, the deal was pretty fair offensively. Both individuals have scored no less than 149 points each since they ended up with their respective teams.
Consider that Drouin missed a lot of games due to his absence last year and injuries. On the other hand, Sergachev is playing with a club that is well offensively, without taking anything away from him, of course.
With these statistics in mind, have you changed your mind about this trade, which has been widely judged over the years?
