As he prepares for the Montreal Canadiens training camp, young Joshua Roy is about to receive some great news.

As you may already know, the Sherbrooke Phoenix (QMJHL) will have to name a new captain to succeed Xavier Parent, who will make his professional debut in 2022-2023.

In his latest article for Le Soleil, journalist Jérôme Gaudreau indicates that Joshua Roy could actually be named as the Phoenix's new captain. This would be a major move for the young CH forward.

The team's head coach and general manager, Stéphane Julien, has already admitted that he has a good idea of the players who will be named.

"We have a good idea of the next captain and his new assistants, but we haven't completely decided on the subject yet. We have several good candidates, but for us, it wasn't a priority going into camp."

As tradition dictates, the identity of the next captain should be known at the end of the team's training camp, so towards the end of September.

If it materializes for Roy, it would be quite an honor and great for his experience. In 2021-2022, Roy, 19, had 119 points in the regular season and 23 points in 11 playoff games, all with the Phoenix.

To add to his experience, he also played in one American Hockey League playoff game with the Laval Rocket. For important details:
