As we reported yesterday, the National Hockey League's professional tryout season is officially underway:

There is also veteran James Neal, who has signed a professional tryout with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

With more announcements to come, the excellent Marc-Olivier Beaudoin had three suggestions for Kent Hughes, three players who could receive professional tryouts from the Tricolore.

We're obviously talking about defensemen here, since the CH already has too many forwards, and a slight gap to fill on defense.

Three players Kent Hughes should consider for a professional tryout.

- PK Subban

Subban, 33, had 22 points in 77 games in 2021-22 (and 19 points in 44 games in 2020-21) with a -8 rating.

- Anton Stralman

Stralman, 36, had 23 points in 74 games in 2021-22 with a -16 rating (at Arizona)

- Calvin de Haan

de Haan, 31, is a former 12th overall pick and had 8 points in 69 games with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2021-22. He earned $4.55 million per year.

We're talking about three veteran defensemen, who could come in and support the youngsters, while giving quality minutes.

Which one would be your choice?

One thing is for sure, if it happens, watch for it soon, because the professional tryout announcements have already started.
