As the much anticipated 2022 National Hockey League draft approaches in Montreal, right in the middle of the Bell Centre, many teams are preparing intensely.
This is notably the case for Montreal Canadiens executives Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton, who are currently in Finland to see which top prospects are eligible. It is also the case for the New Jersey Devils, who have started to take calls to possibly trade their second overall pick.
THERE IS NEWS
In addition to the Devils, there is a new general manager who wants to shake things up.
Ottawa Sens GM Pierre Dorion has just announced that his seventh overall pick is now officially available on the trade market!
"Dorion says pick #7 is in play if they can find a guy who can make an impact. #Sens" - Bruce Garrioch, Sens reporter
Reputable Darren Dreger (TSN) adds that this pick "has to be in play" for a potential major trade. Clearly, Ottawa wants to shake up the shack a bit and is tired of the rebuild.
This will be really interesting to watch, as two top-7 picks are openly available on the trade market. It could be quite a show for the fans at the Bell Centre.
More details to come.
