According to many experts, it is only a matter of time before Jeff Petry is traded by the Habs.

The Dallas Stars and the Detroit Red Wings are interested in him.

However, as reported by Marco Normandin of Habsolumentfan.com, a third team could join the derby to acquire No. 26.

According to insider Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, the Carolina Hurricanes are reportedly trying to fill the loss of defenseman Tony DeAngelo, now with the Philadelphia Flyers. They had interest in Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks (settled) as well as a certain Jeff Petry.

They would possibly like to acquire both of them! It must be said that they are known to always have many solid and competitive defensemen.

This is a file that will be very interesting to follow in the next few days and maybe the Hurricanes and the Habs will be able to bury the hatchet, considering the hostile offers made by both teams in the past.

After acquiring Brent Burns (for practically nothing), could the Hurricanes do it again and add Jeff Petry?

It would be very ironic, but nothing is impossible, especially since the Hurricanes have several interesting prospects.

Here's a little proposal, just for fun:

TO MONTREAL - Ryan Suzuki and Jesper Fast (contract ends in one year)

TO CAROLINA - Jeff Petry

Would you do it?
