Does the name Peter Abandonato ring a bell? He is having a great time with the Trois-Rivières Lions, with whom he has 23 points in 17 games this season. He also scored a hat trick in the first period on Saturday night.

His recent performances have earned him a recall to the Laval Rocket, who are losing players to the injury-plagued Montreal Canadiens. This is a golden opportunity for him to show that he is ready to move up to the next level.

Abandonato already has experience in the AHL, having played 28 games with the Syracuse Crunch last year, including 15 points. That's a very respectable stat. He will be a plus for the Rocket's offense, that's for sure.

He is only 23 years old, which is still young. Maybe one day he can make his way to the NHL. He wouldn't be the first or the last to do so.

After all, the offensive potential has always been there, he dominated at the junior level with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, with whom he accumulated 111 points in his last season in the QMJHL.

A player to watch, definitely.
